Destination: Paris 2011

It wasn't exactly our choice of honeymoon destination but it beats than not going anywhere, right? Plus, Mr. S has tons of family members there so it wasn't such a bad idea visiting his side of families. And we did! Killed 2 birds with one stone :)

It was freezing cold and trust me we walked our ass off everywhere. We were lucky we stayed near Gare du Nord (about 5 minutes walking distance) with La Chapelle (Line 2 Porte Dauphine-Nation) just opposite our apartment. What I find most stunning was our apartment is just a kilometre away from the breathtaking beautiful Basilique du Sacré- Cœur de Montmartre. Perched on top of that hill, it never failed to mesmerize anyone who looked up to admire its beauty. Their RER and métro are impressive but I would advise not to sit or lean against any walls or whatever around you because there's wee-wee everywhere!! I managed to improve my French a lot, well at least Mr. S thought so. The worst part was when he gathered among his families and I was lost in translation. Most of the time you will see me nodding and shaking my head (do not be fooled, I did not know what else to say) vigorously. Lol.

I loved every single moment spent with families there. They were superb (despite language barriers) and we were treated like king and queen all through out our stay.

It took us couple of days to get the hang of their métro map but soon after we were hopping on-off everywhere. Then we discovered we could walk all the way to Saint Lazare (Line 14 Saint Lazare-Olympiades) via tunnel from the station near our home to the famous Galeries Lafayette.

We didn't really shop that much but I got my birthday gift from Mr. S there. It was quite a surprise and I did not use it that much because the price tag on that present was freaking exxy!! If I am to blab about our stay there, it will never end. Suffice to say, it was a really special pre-honeymoon trip and we managed to cover almost every place there is to visit in Paris (oh! Not all their museums though. Yes they are unique each of them but neither of us have the patience to stand and stare at them). Haha!

If ever Mr. S decided to move there, I think I will agree to it. Who said the French are rude? Yes, they laughed when I tried to speak but most of the time they corrected me and smiled. I do however not quite fond of their officers at the tourist guide booth. We find them a bit hmmm....(let's just put it this way, not so polite). Full stop.

The one thing I miss is this cheeky little girl. Bisous bisous...
J'espére vraiment que nous rencontrerons encore bientôt! Jusqu'à alors...

Iliyana I. Ramjaun

Tied up!

With the big day just around the corner, I realised that the preparations and planning getting more details and intricate. AND, I knew I forgot to do something. CORSAGES for family!!!

Lucky me, I managed to contact Rai who agreed to help me out. Less than a week she saved my life with 21 perfectly done nylon flower (both wrist & pin corsages). Pheww...I've attended her decoupage class last year and remembered that she does decorations and flowers for wedding as well. And it only cost me MYR3 per piece! Cheap aye?! Designs are as below except for the flower I asked for beige/gold with black ribbons:)

Next, I've done my table numbering for my reception. Thinking of what font to design now. I know I know...am being too much. But hey! it is never too much to have my ONE JOYOUS MEMORABLE PERFECT day in my life! Ooohhh and I forgot Mangosteenskin is done with my rubber stamp. Next is to do my personalised thank you tags for my lovely guests. Yippeeee!!! ---- Just bear with me a second longer okie dokies darlings?! **wink wink**

Hen Night or Bachelorette Party?

Okay...sweet right? Anyhow, they have decided to do potluck at my place before we head for the swimming pool for more fun & games. Just to be on the safe side, I think I might have to put out my old Scrabbles, UNO cards, Pictionary & twisters out -- just in case it decides to rain that day! *__*

OMG! OMG! Ooh aMm GeE!

O.M.G!

Crikey! I know am flipping out here but I can't help it. Mr.S and I spoke late last night and he chose to deliver his news then and then. Do you lot want to know what his news was?

Me mom&pop-in-law are coming to town! Yyyeeaaappiee yeaapp! They are coming, FINALLY! I know I know, I should be grateful rather than whining about it. REALLY! Am not whining about it. It just came as a surprise to me. I was expecting it so hearing it from Mr.S's mouth last night nearly gave me an eppy. Lol.

For crying out loud, it was a headcase before and now they're warming up which is definitely a good sign. I was gutted all the time thinking all sort of malarkies in my head. Now that everything is sussed out, I am relieved.

Trust me, it took everybody donkey years to push aside crappy ego and nonsense. Hey, I am happy when Mr.S is happy! Now let's wait for their date so we both can plan their stay properly.

Wish us luck!!

Lilly Ishak

Premières Lectures ;)

HaHa... YES! am trying my best to pronounce my french properly. Well at least I know this short story -

"The Hen & Her Chicks"
La Poule Et Ses Poussins

Well I downloaded an e-book for beginners and found this one. It is a very old book published in 1869. An easy learning for me as it provides short and easy pieces in prose and verse with a complete vocabulary. I think! {Crikey moses!! Not so easy since am still picking up on my vocabs!} Lol. Do you want to know the story? You probably can read this to your kids as a bedtime story.

"Petits, venez; petits! petits! petits! petits!"
["Come little ones! Little one! Little one! Little one! Little one!]

Les voici qui viennent en trottinant devant leur mère.
[Here they come trotting off in front of their mother.]

Ils sont: un, deux, trois, quatre, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix.
[There are: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.]

Dix, ils y sont tous.
[Ten. They are all here.]

Tous bien alertes, bien gentils.
[All are very alert, that's nice.]

"Tenez, petits, mangez."
["Here little one, eat."]

Ils ont un mème duvet, un beau duvet jaune clair.
[They all have the same beautiful clear yellow fluffy feathers.]

Ce sont des frères et des soeurs; dix frères et soeurs du mème âge.
[They are brothers and sisters; ten brothers and sister with the same age.]

Quelle gentille petite famille!
[What a sweet little family!]

Voyez, comme ils se pressent, se poussent, se renversent, marchent les uns sur les autres.
[Look at them as they rush, push, roll over and walk over each other.]

"Mauvais frères! Pourquoi vous disputez? Il y a pour tous."
["Bad brothers! Why do you argue? There's enough for all."]

La mère les regardes, fait le tour de la bande, rappelle ceux qui s'ècartent.
[The mother watched, goes around the band, remembering those who stray.]

Oh! La bonne mère! Elle ne mange pas, elle.
[Oh! The good mother. She does not eat at all.]

Petits ègoïstes, laissez doc quelque chose pour votre mère!
[Little selfish, do leave something for your mother!]

Ils ne lui laissent rien!
[They left her with nothing!]

La poule s'èloigne en faisant entendre son gloussement.
[The hen moves away by making clucking sound.]

Les poussins la suivent.
[The chicks follow.]

Elle leur cherche de la nourriture.
[She is looking for food.]

Si elle n'en trouve pas, elle gratte la terre.
[If she cannot finds it, she will scratches the ground.]

D'es qu'elle a dècouvert queldue chose, elle appelle ses petits qui accourent aussitôt.
[Once she has discovered something, she will call her young ones who rush immediately.]

Par la pluie, par le froid, elle les rassemble sous ses ailes.
[When it rains and cold, she gathers them together under her wings.]

Quand elle aperçoit on oiseau de proie, elle expose sa vie pour les defendre.
[When she sees a prey, she exposes her life to defend them.]

Elle a beaucoup de courage, parce qu'elle a beaucoup d'amour.
[She has a lot of courage because she has lots of love.]

La fin.
[The end.]

My apology about the translation as it is basically based on my own understanding rather than proper translation from the web etc. Right!I am now moving to second reading. Let see if I ace it. **wink wink**

Iftar dilemma!

SALAM RAMADHAN AL-MUBARRAK TO ALL OF YOU!

Mommy called this evening informing that tomorrow will be a family gathering for iftar at Kelantan Delights in Subang Jaya. The only issue is that I finish work around 5-6PM and iftar usually around 7.30PM.

"HOW ON EARTH CAN I GET THERE ON TIME?!"

Yesterday itself from office to get back to my house which is only 5 minutes away took me about 2 hours ++ and I nearly had my iftar in my car! Now my mind is racing trying to figure out the best way to get to that Subang place on time, well at least just in the nick of time for iftar. After laying out my plans carefully, I have ended up with option 1: to drive or option 2: take public transportation.

Option 1: Driving to work & go to Subang afterwards

Wake up in the morning {early morning} and get stuck in a jam for 30-40 minutes before reaching office. Then try to leave at 5PM and most probably get stuck again either right in front of my office towards Jalan Kuching or at Jalan Raja Chulan towards Pudu Station. Either way these are the only 2 ways I could think of to get myself to Subang Jaya.

Eihhs...probably estimation of being stuck in a massive traffic say about 2-3hours.

Option 2: Taking LRT to work & get to KL Sentral to board KTM train to Subang

Wake up in the morning {early morning} and queue for LRT in front of my house. Maybe about 20-30 minutes to reach office. Then same try to leave early maybe at 5PM and walk to the train station. Queue {darn! it's a very very long queue. did I mention it is winding like a snake even during the morning??} and squeeze into the LRT and get down at KL Sentral. Then rush to KTM side and queue {again, here even worse. these people don't know how to queue. I swear there was this one time I had to stand on one foot as people were squashing me from left, right, front and back!} to squeeze myself into the train. After numerous stations then only it will get to Subang Jaya. Then walk to that place.

Wooosaahhh!! Now can you lot help me out here a bit? How can I do this? I know I will feel bad if I let mommy down, if I don't go to that gathering. Sigh!!

Again, they're late!!

FIRST OF ALL, I APOLOGISE FOR MY LONG HIATUS.
TOO MANY THINGS IN MY PLATE TO COPE WITH...I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND.

NOW!
I am pissed with my card provider. They promised me that they're going to finish printing and do all the embossing, gluing and stamping my invitation cards this week...BUT when I called them yesterday, all I got was this:

"Sorry kak, belum siap lagi. Belum buat hard cover akak lagi. Maybe minggu depan kot siap. Nanti akak call saya balik minggu depan?"
[Translation: "Sorry. It is not done yet. We haven't finished gluing your hard cover yet. Maybe next week. Can you please call me again next week?"]

Well, first thing first, you are the one doing business. I am your customer. Tell me again why should I be reminding you to finish get done with my card? Shouldn't you be the one that call me and say, "Your cards are done and you can come to collect them?"

Geezzz...now I am a Bridezilla. I have designed everything for them. All they need to do is copy them and print. Is that too much too ask?

Phewww!! Now that is out of my chest!! Let me give you a glimpse of the card. Yeayy...

iPad oh! iPad...

This is a very long tiring one... I am looking for the picture ...will post it in a while okay?
--------

MY APOLOGY TO YOU LOT...{breathe breathe}

The title itself already gave out what am about to write here today. Well my dearest granpa was about to undergo a kind of surgery for his prostate {but now no longer since his condition wasn't serious - not cancer or anything, therefore why take unnecessary risk. He's already 80+ years old. Lets just let him enjoy his rest of life without any pain :)}

Now iPad came way before that when he was doing his test and my granmama dear granmama! thought the hospital going to warded granpa. Mommy called and said we need something to keep him occupied. IPAD is the answer!

The long story as I mentioned earlier was because mommy will never go look at shops neither will daddy. That is up to me to go hunting. And oh poor Mr.S! I dragged him on his feet all day long. We went to several outlets - I think more than 4 or 5 outlets looking for iPad and finally, only mac studio in LowYat Plaza has it. Geez talk about being lucky! After making sure that the sales person understood what I wanted and made my bookings {yes bookings! we took more than one iPad that day.hehe.} we had to call mommy and daddy for them to make their way.

Since they live about 50 minutes away from town, we had to wait. Waited and waited the clock was ticking away as well. We had to leave those iPads in the good hands of the sales person and left to go and meet Mr.S foster mommy in Kajang. Not more than 15minutes later, daddy called saying the sales person left! Mannn I was pissed beyond statement. I can hear mommy talking yap yap yap to somebody {I assume the manager}- daddy said bye but then called again 5 minutes later just to tell me, "Nevermind, now got the iPads. Leaving.Bye!" The first call when daddy said the sales person left when he already gave his words he would stay until my parents arrive - I nearly went ballistic! Luckily Mr.S was there. Blimey!!

And yeah, we were on our way meeting Mr.S foster mommy for family dinner. We arrived safe and sound {after getting lost.haha.} nonetheless had a great dinner at Red Wok Restaurant, Bangi. Service is so-so but the food worth every penny you spent, I promise you that.

Picture taken below was when iPad being handed over to granpa by my little sister as an advanced {5 days in advance} birthday gift. Huh? Oh remember I said he didn't undergo any surgery and was fine - yeah we switched and made it his birthday present. Killed 2 birds with one stone! And everybody was happy....that day worth all the sweat when we saw his face gleamed. It's as if a boy just got a new toy kinda look don't you think so? Man we were zonked out but we knew we aced it!

Toodloo for now folks.

cOloUrS!

Colours...colors...couleurs!

I spent months and months dreaming what my theme colours would be. Trust me. I even dreamt about it. I have collected samples of palette and tried to match every hue I can think of...but in the end, it just ended with something unimaginable decisions.

I like this cherry red and dark brown mixture. It somehow created that sexy romantic mood. But mommy said it would be gloomy and Mr. S skin tone won't match. So I had to let this go.

Then I was thinking, fine let's go for slightly natural tone. But it was also a No-NO!

I wanted a whole full complete traditional Malay wedding. Nothing missed. SO mommy and I sat discussing what are the hues that will look nice as songket. I love royal yellow so I thought why not try this combination.

Then again, I wanted white and silver for my solemnization. I started eyeing for metal blend.

Too dull me think. What say you? After long consideration I have finally decided...of course with approval from Mr.S and mommy aaanndddd granmama as well...

Here goes nothing! Okay I know the Mauritius reception is too early and all but hey, no harm for early preparation.

Solemnization: Off white & silver

Reception MY: Gold & turquoise

Reception MUR: Champagne & taupe

Pheww!! And oh! To all my guests, I would really love you guys to attend in fuchsia and yellow {if you can that is...} AND PLEASE DRESS IN TRADITIONAL COSTUMES. Be it kebaya, cheongsam or saree as long as its traditional. This applies to the guys as well! No slacking okay?!

Fly to Neverland!

If you people out there living in the doldrums...
this may make your day as it made mine. {grin grin}
Mindy Gledhill and her ditties have always managed to make me smile.
Enjoy!

Little boy, when you speak
I cant help but kiss your cheeks
I love the way you grab my hands
And tell me all about your plans

Rocket high, comets fly
You and I could take a ride
And fly away to Neverland
And give our best to Peter Pan

When you reach for the stars
Don't forget who you are
And please dont turn around
And grow up way too fast
See the sand in my grasp
From the first to the last
Every grain becomes a memory of the past
Oh, life's an hourglass
Life's an hourglass

Story's read, prayer is said
Close your eyes sleepyhead
While angels linger in your dreams
And hold your in their feathered wings
Just like you,I was small
Not that long ago at all
I wish you all the happiness
That God gives freely if you ask

When you reach for the stars
Don't forget who you are
And please dont turn around
And grow up way too fast
See the sand in my grasp
From the first to the last
Every grain becomes a memory of the past
Oh, life's an hourglass
Life's an hourglass.

Nikah oh! Nikah

I started collecting ideas since God knows when...maybe end of last year. My mind kept rotating lace, beaded chiffon, songket or organza. Somehow when mommy and I went shop-hopping back in January, we ended with Solstiss French lace...and here I thought lace is affordable. Geez!! It is most definitely NOT! After several careful research, Mr.S and I agreed we should opt for elegant in simplicity. Perfect! :)

And this will be sewn as boat-neck modern kurung.

I was euphoric when the seamstress advised she can fulfill my dream nikah dress. Then again, I forgot my nikah is going to be in a mosque. Deng! I completely forgotten about this part, honestly! Okay I have to admit am bit clueless {palm to the forehead} when it comes to how to style a hijab. On normal days or casual wear is fine but wedding?! Ooohhh...{headache}

As dopey as I am, am not that bad...Come on people! Give me a bit {itsy-bitsy teensy-weensy} credit :) I found couple fancy ways to wear the hijab for my nikah like the one below but I can't deny that I do like Hana Tajima's video {attached} as well.

Want to see the video I was telling you people about? Here you go:

Drum rolls! Jeng jeng jeng... I have absolutely no idea which style am gonna do. As yet. Stay tune and if you people have any suggestion or idea, do share okie dokie? XoXOxx

Calligraphy: Our names =)

LIGHT BULB!
[read in the same tone as in movie Despicable Me]

Usually when I am swarmed with work, my light bulb starts working. Don't ask me why...it just always does. I had this flash of ideas back to back on how my gift tags and wishing cards going to look like. Heck! I even considered making them with my bare hands. Unlucky for me, those machines cost me a BOMB!

I have always wanted a monogram for my wedding tag and wishing card. Okay you lots probably wondering what is so difficult or costs me that much right? It is because I don't want it to be printed on a piece of coloured patterned paper; I wanted it to be cut as per its shapes and punch a hole for the ribbons. Yeap, die cut monograms!

Despite the swanky look that I wanted, trust me when I said it is expensive, it is truly really is exxy!! My heart skipped a beat when several printing houses even friends quoted that much of monies. Therefore, I started my quest looking at all sorts of paper crafting machines. I guess then I knew why it is so exorbitantly steep priced.

But I still want monograms of my name and Mr.S!! I WANT MONOGRAMS! There I emphasized it. And emphasize it again, again and again. POP! Another flash of ideas came to my mind.

Blink blink my eyes went and I knew those monograms I have always wanted would not go well with our wedding theme. Miraculously God did His deviant way to show it to us, humans. Back to my theme: pure indigenous traditional Malay wedding theme would most definitely clashes with my avant-garde gift tags therefore, I decided {of course, after consulting with Mr.S} to try arabic monograms or normally known as calligraphy monograms.

Again, I took on a quest looking for those who has the skills to design my calligraphic monograms and I found one! Yippee yippee yippee... As Mr.S would say, I always get hyped up over something I like and straight shoot an email to the person. He replied promptly and managed to deliver just what I expected. Superb! And I love it so much...thanks to Pixenpensoul!
