cOloUrS!

Colours...colors...couleurs!

I spent months and months dreaming what my theme colours would be. Trust me. I even dreamt about it. I have collected samples of palette and tried to match every hue I can think of...but in the end, it just ended with something unimaginable decisions.

I like this cherry red and dark brown mixture. It somehow created that sexy romantic mood. But mommy said it would be gloomy and Mr. S skin tone won't match. So I had to let this go.

Then I was thinking, fine let's go for slightly natural tone. But it was also a No-NO!

I wanted a whole full complete traditional Malay wedding. Nothing missed. SO mommy and I sat discussing what are the hues that will look nice as songket. I love royal yellow so I thought why not try this combination.

Then again, I wanted white and silver for my solemnization. I started eyeing for metal blend.

Too dull me think. What say you? After long consideration I have finally decided...of course with approval from Mr.S and mommy aaanndddd granmama as well...

Here goes nothing! Okay I know the Mauritius reception is too early and all but hey, no harm for early preparation.

Solemnization: Off white & silver

Reception MY: Gold & turquoise

Reception MUR: Champagne & taupe

Pheww!! And oh! To all my guests, I would really love you guys to attend in fuchsia and yellow {if you can that is...} AND PLEASE DRESS IN TRADITIONAL COSTUMES. Be it kebaya, cheongsam or saree as long as its traditional. This applies to the guys as well! No slacking okay?!

Fly to Neverland!

If you people out there living in the doldrums...
this may make your day as it made mine. {grin grin}
Mindy Gledhill and her ditties have always managed to make me smile.
Enjoy!

Little boy, when you speak
I cant help but kiss your cheeks
I love the way you grab my hands
And tell me all about your plans

Rocket high, comets fly
You and I could take a ride
And fly away to Neverland
And give our best to Peter Pan

When you reach for the stars
Don't forget who you are
And please dont turn around
And grow up way too fast
See the sand in my grasp
From the first to the last
Every grain becomes a memory of the past
Oh, life's an hourglass
Life's an hourglass

Story's read, prayer is said
Close your eyes sleepyhead
While angels linger in your dreams
And hold your in their feathered wings
Just like you,I was small
Not that long ago at all
I wish you all the happiness
That God gives freely if you ask

When you reach for the stars
Don't forget who you are
And please dont turn around
And grow up way too fast
See the sand in my grasp
From the first to the last
Every grain becomes a memory of the past
Oh, life's an hourglass
Life's an hourglass.

Nikah oh! Nikah

I started collecting ideas since God knows when...maybe end of last year. My mind kept rotating lace, beaded chiffon, songket or organza. Somehow when mommy and I went shop-hopping back in January, we ended with Solstiss French lace...and here I thought lace is affordable. Geez!! It is most definitely NOT! After several careful research, Mr.S and I agreed we should opt for elegant in simplicity. Perfect! :)

And this will be sewn as boat-neck modern kurung.

I was euphoric when the seamstress advised she can fulfill my dream nikah dress. Then again, I forgot my nikah is going to be in a mosque. Deng! I completely forgotten about this part, honestly! Okay I have to admit am bit clueless {palm to the forehead} when it comes to how to style a hijab. On normal days or casual wear is fine but wedding?! Ooohhh...{headache}

As dopey as I am, am not that bad...Come on people! Give me a bit {itsy-bitsy teensy-weensy} credit :) I found couple fancy ways to wear the hijab for my nikah like the one below but I can't deny that I do like Hana Tajima's video {attached} as well.

Want to see the video I was telling you people about? Here you go:

Drum rolls! Jeng jeng jeng... I have absolutely no idea which style am gonna do. As yet. Stay tune and if you people have any suggestion or idea, do share okie dokie? XoXOxx

Calligraphy: Our names =)

LIGHT BULB!
[read in the same tone as in movie Despicable Me]

Usually when I am swarmed with work, my light bulb starts working. Don't ask me why...it just always does. I had this flash of ideas back to back on how my gift tags and wishing cards going to look like. Heck! I even considered making them with my bare hands. Unlucky for me, those machines cost me a BOMB!

I have always wanted a monogram for my wedding tag and wishing card. Okay you lots probably wondering what is so difficult or costs me that much right? It is because I don't want it to be printed on a piece of coloured patterned paper; I wanted it to be cut as per its shapes and punch a hole for the ribbons. Yeap, die cut monograms!

Despite the swanky look that I wanted, trust me when I said it is expensive, it is truly really is exxy!! My heart skipped a beat when several printing houses even friends quoted that much of monies. Therefore, I started my quest looking at all sorts of paper crafting machines. I guess then I knew why it is so exorbitantly steep priced.

But I still want monograms of my name and Mr.S!! I WANT MONOGRAMS! There I emphasized it. And emphasize it again, again and again. POP! Another flash of ideas came to my mind.

Blink blink my eyes went and I knew those monograms I have always wanted would not go well with our wedding theme. Miraculously God did His deviant way to show it to us, humans. Back to my theme: pure indigenous traditional Malay wedding theme would most definitely clashes with my avant-garde gift tags therefore, I decided {of course, after consulting with Mr.S} to try arabic monograms or normally known as calligraphy monograms.

Again, I took on a quest looking for those who has the skills to design my calligraphic monograms and I found one! Yippee yippee yippee... As Mr.S would say, I always get hyped up over something I like and straight shoot an email to the person. He replied promptly and managed to deliver just what I expected. Superb! And I love it so much...thanks to Pixenpensoul!
