HaHa... YES! am trying my best to pronounce my french properly. Well at least I know this short story -
"The Hen & Her Chicks"
La Poule Et Ses Poussins
Well I downloaded an e-book for beginners and found this one. It is a very old book published in 1869. An easy learning for me as it provides short and easy pieces in prose and verse with a complete vocabulary. I think! {Crikey moses!! Not so easy since am still picking up on my vocabs!} Lol. Do you want to know the story? You probably can read this to your kids as a bedtime story.
"Petits, venez; petits! petits! petits! petits!"
["Come little ones! Little one! Little one! Little one! Little one!]
[Here they come trotting off in front of their mother.]
[There are: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.]
Dix, ils y sont tous.
[Ten. They are all here.]
Tous bien alertes, bien gentils.
[All are very alert, that's nice.]
"Tenez, petits, mangez."
["Here little one, eat."]
[They all have the same beautiful clear yellow fluffy feathers.]
[They are brothers and sisters; ten brothers and sister with the same age.]
Quelle gentille petite famille!
[What a sweet little family!]
[Look at them as they rush, push, roll over and walk over each other.]
"Mauvais frères! Pourquoi vous disputez? Il y a pour tous."
["Bad brothers! Why do you argue? There's enough for all."]
[The mother watched, goes around the band, remembering those who stray.]
Oh! La bonne mère! Elle ne mange pas, elle.
[Oh! The good mother. She does not eat at all.]
Petits ègoïstes, laissez doc quelque chose pour votre mère!
[Little selfish, do leave something for your mother!]
Ils ne lui laissent rien!
[They left her with nothing!]
[The hen moves away by making clucking sound.]
Les poussins la suivent.
[The chicks follow.]
Elle leur cherche de la nourriture.
[She is looking for food.]
[If she cannot finds it, she will scratches the ground.]
[Once she has discovered something, she will call her young ones who rush immediately.]
[When it rains and cold, she gathers them together under her wings.]
[When she sees a prey, she exposes her life to defend them.]
[She has a lot of courage because she has lots of love.]
La fin.
[The end.]
My apology about the translation as it is basically based on my own understanding rather than proper translation from the web etc. Right!I am now moving to second reading. Let see if I ace it. **wink wink**
Love,
Lilly Ishak
